Kirindi Ella Falls at Pelmadulla

This large waterfall situated in the Pelmadulla village and counted among the tallest in the island. It is 116m (381ft) tall with a wide body which approximately stands to about 381 feet for its tallest single droplet of water. The waterfall type can be called as that of a horsetail.

The Kirindi Ella River has several other sources at Kuttapitiya Kande .The river flows into the Denewak Ganga, which is a tributary river of the magnificent Kalu Ganga.

To reach the Kirindi Ella falls one needs to take the A-4 road from Ratnapura to Palmadulla. Just about another half a kilometer prior to the fringes of Palmadulla lays the junction that leads to Kuttapitiya. This road will take you to a tea manufactory and the falls will be visible from this area. Finally to reach straight to the destination, Kirindi Ella falls you need to walk about one kilometer from within a delightful fenland and hayfield.

Now there is a good motorable road leading up to the waterfall and a cement staircase to descend down to the edge of the fall.
